Celebrate International Women’s Day

March 8th is International Women’s Day (IWD). It’s an important day to empower and acknowledge women’s success and progress. International Women’s Day originated in the United States from two all women strikes in the late 1800s.

Women have always demanded more when it comes to health care, wages, education, labor, and overall livelihood.  Women are the front runners, the caregivers, and the peacemakers who have faced challenges globally. There are societal and economic problems that deeply impact women, finding solutions to these problems are essential.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2016 is “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality.” The United Nations (UN) has adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to be achieved by 2030.

Some of the goals include:
No Poverty
Zero Hunger
Good Health and Well-being
Quality Education
Gender Equality
